The Samsung Food ShowCase™ RH57H90307F Freestanding American Fridge Freezer *swoon*

We were recently asked to review the samsung American Showcase Fridge Freezer for ao.com – and actually we had to think long and hard before we said yes. Because this is one HUGE fridge – and having it in our kitchen meant a total redesign of our space! In the ned we opted to place it in our utility room – although it’s not as convenient as having the fridge right in the kitchen, it is only 10 steps away (and seriously, how lazy would I be to worry about a 20-step round trip to get the milk?), and meant we didn’t lose any precious storage space in our not-very-big kitchen.

Here’s the video we provide to AO, which is a great way for you to explore the fridge:

So – now it’s been in use for a couple of weeks, what do we really think of it?
First impressions were that it is HUGE. I mean, it’s immense. if you’re used to a standard 60/40 fridge freezer, these big double American ones feel like a wardrobe to Narnia by comparison.
But it’s shocking how quickly you get used to that extra space. Seriously – how on earth did I manage before? I open the door, and I can see ALL my food. Everything is laid out so cleverly that it’s a simple thing to see what I have, what leftovers there are, whether there is any bacon lurking in the meat drawer, whether I have just-one-red-pepper-please-let-there-be-one-left…

The trays are all so clear and deep and well-designed for access that you can see everything you have a at glance. Brilliance.

The freezer has way more room than it looks, it’s a bit tardis-like in its capacity. But the open shelves do take a bit of juggling – squashy bags of veg are okay, but oddly-shaped joints of meat may cause a little frustration as they insist on sliding back out on your toes if you’re not careful (but that’ll only happen to you once before you learn that slamming the door and hoping it sticks next time you open the door isn’t really the answer to the problem…).

I'd had a massive 14-tray waitrose delivery (I know, because the delivery man informed me with a thrilled face how many there were...). Once it was all in the fridge freezer, there's STILL room to take more...

I’d had a massive 14-tray Waitrose delivery (I know, because the delivery man informed me with a thrilled face how many there were…). This is with everything unpacked – there’s STILL room to take more…

As with all stainless steel items in the kitchen, it does need wiping constantly if you want to keep it hand-smudge free. And the tray under the water/ice tap gets mucky quicker than anything. It’s astonishing how much my children are drinking now they have ice on tap. Especially at night. The light-up thing? Oddly satisfying. And a late-night fridge sneak will always be caught out with this amount of light going on…

The Samsung Food ShowCase™ RH57H90307F Freestanding American Fridge Freezer is currently available from ao.com for £1,999 – with FREE next day delivery, and they have a standard price Match promise where they guarantee to price match all online retailers. We do properly love ao.com.

A 70's child, I’ve been married for a Very Long Time, and appear to have made four children, and collected one large and useless dog along the way. I work, I have four children, I have a dog… ergo, I do not do dusting or ironing. I began LittleStuff back in (gulp) 2004. I like huge mugs of tea. And Coffee. And Cake. And a steaming cone of crispy fresh fluffy chips, smothered in salt and vinegar. #healthyeater When I grow up I am going to be quietly graceful, organised and wear lipstick every day. In the meantime I *may* have a slight butterfly-brain issue.
