School Shoes? Well, it’s Dr Marten’s, baby. Obviously.

Back in the day, my teenaged feet and my DM’s were inseperable. Honestly – it was 1987 (ish), and the ONLY footwear that was acceptable was DM’s. I *may* have been persuaded into a pair of Converse lookalikes very occasionally, but as they were cheap lookalikes, and my DM’s were the Real Deal, there wasn’t really much comparison.

Classic DM shoes – rarely did my teen sartorial preference so closely match the ‘sensible school shoe’ preference of my mother. Naturally the fact that I insisted on a ‘no laces’ principle caused a few raised eyebrows, but hey. My feet were in Sensible Shoes, there wasn’t going to be too much quibbling about the lack of laces.
I wore those DM’s until the leather cracked and died (not the sole, mind; these babies last forever. Dr Martens will never ever suffer from flappy-sole-syndrome that so many other lesser shoes so often do in the playground) – they moulded to my feet, and wearing them was like having an old familiar friendly pair of slippers for wearing outside (barefoot, obviously – no socks were allowed if you were wearing shoes, it was a one-or-the-other thing back then. And still now, come to think of it. Old habits…)
Luckily, my by-then-married self had picked a good ‘un; the husband spotted my sadness and dismay at the demise of my black DM’s, and replaced them with some classic Cherry Red 1460’s.
Oh the new joy! And 15 years later, I still cherish my lovely comfy DM boots.

So when I heard that Dr. Martens have launched a back to school range, I was ALL over it. A new edition this season is the slip on chelsea boot – brilliant for kids to get ready quickly and simply in the manic morning rush.

The Dr. Martens kids range retains all the classic attributes of the original and well-known brand , simply presented in miniature versions. Durability and comfort are in all styles and allow those long standing Dr. Martens fans to give their own children the very same sense of attitude, rebellion and style with their footwear choice.

The back to school range is split across two age groups: infants and juniors. For those taking their first steps, the tiny reproductions of the 1461 3-eye shoe and 2976 chelsea boot offer a sturdy sole combined with soft and durable leather.

The chelsea boot style has elasticated sides, to help parents get them on and off little feet quickly and easily and come in sizes 3-9 (UK). The classic girls Mary Jane style and boys strap shoe are perfect for school and easy to wear with a velcro strap. The Junior versions are exactly the same, just in larger sizes for those children who have graduated to running around school playgrounds. They are available in sizes 10-2 (UK).

A 70's child, I’ve been married for a Very Long Time, and appear to have made four children, and collected one large and useless dog along the way. I work, I have four children, I have a dog… ergo, I do not do dusting or ironing. I began LittleStuff back in (gulp) 2004. I like huge mugs of tea. And Coffee. And Cake. And a steaming cone of crispy fresh fluffy chips, smothered in salt and vinegar. #healthyeater When I grow up I am going to be quietly graceful, organised and wear lipstick every day. In the meantime I *may* have a slight butterfly-brain issue.
