We’re really excited to be working again with Collins on a brilliant Back To School competition event for you; a new competition opens every single day this week, and they all run for seven days. So we’ve a mad fortnight ahead – and don’t fret if you miss a day, there’s plenty of time to catch ’em all. :)
As any parent knows, September’s a sad/glad month. Summer’s over, school starts… and life inevitably takes on it’s winter humdrum routine. You return from that first school run to a remarkably quite house, and the day yawns before you, with too much work and not enough children to fill it…
But tinged with the massive mix of HappySad, there’s a lot of upheaval and organisation to work out (and the more children you have, the more expensive and complicated things get!). Spending out on learning resources for home understandably gets lower and lower on your priority list. And yet, there WILL come a time during the school year that you’ll think “I could really do with a… on the bookshelf right now”. No matter what age your child is. Yes the answer is often found on Google, but sometimes you just need that book. Children need to touch and feel and explore something physical when they’re learning – and in my humble opinion (and experience of raising four learners) no amount of internets replaces that.
If you’ve not made friends with it yet, then you need to go and introduce yourself to the Collins website. It’s not only jam-packed with excellent books for every stage of your child’s learning, but they also offer a boat load of useful resources and practical guides to help both you and your resident student.
Right now there’s also an online 30% discount for parents on all Back to School books, so now’s a good time to stock up. Just use the code BTS2016!
So here’s Day One in our ‘Back to School Books’ fortnight – and it’s a perfect way for you and your child to explore the world together.
Day One – and together you can discover the world in bright, beautiful colours with a Collins Picture Atlas, World Map and Sticker books, plus a fantastic illuminated globe! Go, enter – and remember to come back tomorrow for day two :)

It all depends on the age of the child, when mine were young we took them on beach holidays to Greece,we didn’t take any abroad until they were at least four as the heat is often too much for them.We then started to take them to Italy,France,Belgium and Switzerland, you know your own child, they all develop at different stages and have different interests, the main thing is fun,my six year old loved museums, whilst my ten year old could think of nothing worse !.Now it’s my grandchildren that I’m taking away,we’re going to Paris in October and we will be going to Euro Disney too with them,it’s not all about culture, let them guide you x
