We’ve had a fire pit ourselves for years now, and though we love to spend time in the garden, and we eat almost every meal out of doors…every summer it’s the evenings spent sitting around the fire pit which embed themselves into family memory.
Friends come for a barbecue – but stay for the traditional toasting of marshmallows on the fire pit. Even last summer, at our glitzy black tie garden marquee ‘do’ for our 25th wedding anniversary, the lighting of the firepit caused a mass exodus as everyone headed for the straw bales to sit around the flames and toast marshmallows…
Yes – that’s around 15 or so seated around the fire pit, all ages from 10 to 75. And yes, the guitar was broken out a little later for an impromptu singalong. it was magical.
And this portable black steel fire pit from Wayfair is perfect – even the smaller version is still 60cm across, wide enough for even family gatherings or groups of teenagers to sit by and watch the stars come out, staying toasty warm even on the chillier August evenings (to be honest, we sit out by ours from Easter through to October, aided by rugs and hot chocolate on the colder evenings).
