The i-SPY books – remember them? Back in the 70’s we simply wouldn’t consider a long car journey without one! Mind you – I never did finish the British Birds one. In our kids’ digital worlds I find there’s something terribly reassuring about the fact that these low-tech and cheap little books (they’re under £3!!!) can still hold a fascination – and sneakily teach a lot about perseverance, observation… and obviously about the thing you’re spotting too.
