Now, I’d not owned one of these baby seats before. Despite all the intense pressure, I’d somehow managed to raise 3 boys without one – and all of them figured out how to sit up, all by themselves. :O
But, Prince Lionheart wanted us to review them so I said we’d give them a try.
I’ve used a similar seat occasionally at Mums & Tots; and I definitely prefer the bebePOD – it’s roomier, for a start, so you’re not left lifting your child out of it, then prising the seat away from their bottom with your foot whilst balancing on your other leg. It’s a very elegant dance some of you may be familiar with, performed in homes and Mums & Tots groups across the country.
I put Bear in it when she reached the 4 month minimum age bracket and she looked ridiculous, I have to say. Though she didn’t fall out, she did a very unladylike sideways slump, whilst grinning inanely and flailing her arms uselessly about.
But just this morning I popped her in it to try again (at the grand old age of 4 months and 3 weeks).
And she loved it!
She sat quite happily lobbing her toys just out of reach so that I could stop working and hand them back to her every 5 minutes. She definitely likes being more upright, and I think the older she gets the more she’ll love it.
Softer than it looks, we’ve found the bebePOD really practical. I’m definitely a new-found fan of this style of baby chair, and the bebePOD has become our favourite.
I like the higher back on the bebePOD which makes it more secure for Bear, who at 4 months was right at the start of the age range and the shinier coating on the bebePOD makes it really easy to keep clean.
The pommel in front makes an excellent drum or steering wheel of course, or simply a convenient place to rest your favourite toy :)
The biggest thing for me is that it simply feels far more sociable with the rest of the family; Bear in this seat gets to sit up and watch the rest of the family around her, rather than simply waiting for us to pass within her eyeline.
The latest version of the BebePod can be found on Amazon for an amazing £36.35!
