If you’re still wondering what to do for the weekend, then why not take a look at the National Sea Life Centre Birmingham – it’s not just a wander around looking at the amazing sea creatures; there’s a range of activities and talks too.
New this summer, visitors can go on a Behind the Scenes Tour, guided by an expert aquarist! For just £3.50 per person*, you can find out how thousands of marine and fresh-water creatures are cared for and learn all about the attractions’ breeding programmes. This is sure to be a memorable experience that all the family can enjoy.
For those looking for something even more unique, there are VIP experiences (totally want to do this); you can feed the sharks, Gentoo penguins, or Molokai, the Giant Green Sea Turtle. Meet a knowledgeable aquarist and find out everything you wanted to know about these creatures and their special diets. Not to mention getting up close and personal and feeding these beautiful creatures and even taking home a SEA LIFE goody bag!
Obviously there’s the underwater tunnel – and Birmingham’s Sea Life Centre has the UK’s only 360° completely transparent Ocean Tunnel – and come ‘face to fin’ with some incredible underwater species including the popular Clownfish in brand new attraction Clownfish Kingdom.
From seeing some of the fastest underwater swimming Gentoo penguins (keep up-to-date with what Ginny the Gentoo has to say by following her on twitter), to the Bowmouth Guitar Shark with one hundred rows of teeth, the smallest species of otter, the Asian Short clawed otters, an array of colourful fish and much more, children are sure to be kept entertained.
*Can only be purchased alongside entry into The National Sea Life Centre Birmingham. If pre-booked in advance online, the Behind the Scenes Tour and entry into the attraction is available from just £14.50.
More information about the VIP feeds can be found on their website.
