I find I don’t have too much trouble keeping the younglings safe as the nights draw in during Autumn & early winter; they’ve had months of outside fun, and they’re happy to be indoors more for winter pursuits. But come January they are DONE with being inside. The faintest whiff of spring in the air, and we’re out at all hours, making use of the park long after we can actually see, and heading home on scooters through dark streets.
It’s always this time of year, then, that I start checking the visibility levels – thankfully a lot of kids coats these days come with reflective bits, but certainly not all – and they’re never enough to really keep a zooming child-on-scooter safe.
So when I saw these new Hi-Vis ActionPaks from LittleLife I totally fell in love. A rucksack AND reflective in one handy package, the Hi-Vis ActionPak is the perfect partner for scooting, cycling or just staying safe and seen on the school run!
Available in two sizes, a toddler and a kids version, the Hi-Vis ActionPak is based on the design of LittleLife’s award-winning Toddler Backpack (which we’ve been fans of for years…). As always it features comfortable, padded shoulder straps (at the right width for young shoulder frames) and a secure chest strap, so the ActionPak can be adjusted to ensure it fits your child perfectly. A top handle and rear grab handle make it easy to help kids balance on their bike or scooter (genius touch), plus of course it’s a great way to manage excitable small people on buy road crossings.
But on top of all the super-practical backpack stuff, the Hi-Vis ActionPak’s high-visibility fabric and bright, reflective print ensures it doubles up as hi-vis safety product. No need for extra gear – it’s all here and ready when the light starts to go. With a fun design that kids will genuinely love (the pink Hi-Vis ActionPak features that reflective butterfly print while the dinosaur-themed yellow version comes complete with reflective spikes. And tail! No guessing which spiky one my girl would choose in a heartbeat!).
Honestly? I want a dinosaur ActionPak in grown up size.
The Hi-Vis ActionPak is £19 for a the toddler version (ages 1-3yrs), and £21 for the older kids (3yrs+). And you can see the whole Safe & Seen range from LittleLife over on their site – do have a quick look at the ID straps too, which I think are a travel essential.
