We’re Talking Garden Furniture #GetTheGarden

Come the warmer weather, we all want to be eating outside, don’t we?
But where to sit, that’s often the problem. That old furniture that’s seen you through the last ten summers is looking a bit tired, a bit wobbly… and you probably grit your teeth every time you lower yourself gingerly into it and hope it’s still going to hold up…

Or maybe you’ve got a few of those cheap white plastic chairs stacked in the corner of the shed or behind the garage, and every year you think that THIS is the year you’ll find yourself somewhere nice to sit.

Of course we all want a garden that looks perfect – whether your heart lies in a muddled confusion of soft English Country hues of foxglove, roses and lavender, or you prefer the clean sharp lines of contemporary designs, it’s a lifetime of work to create the perfect space you love.

But this series is all about getting the basics right – the smaller jobs which have a suddenly huge impact. The baby steps from which your garden will magically grow and transform from a rather neglected space into the place you just want to sit and be in.

And one of the nicest things you can do in a garden is have a great place to sit. Whether it’s for a rowdy family lunch under the shade of an umbrella, or an intimate evening over a glass of wine as darkness falls and the bats start flitting above the candles – the Garden Magic happens wherever you gather with your friends and family.
When you have a pretty table, and a comfortable chair, it doesn’t actually matter if the flowerbeds are full of weeds, the path needs power-washing or the shed needs a lick of paint. No one will notice.

Of course, Pinterest is an absolute mine of amazing inspiration, and full of tips and tricks to create astoundingly pretty spaces with the most unlikely of items (you can follow our GetTheGarden Pinterest board if you want to see what we’re collating ourselves). But sometimes, you just want something NOW. You don’t want a project. You want somewhere to sit for Sunday lunch – this weekend.

In which case, may I suggest that your browsing begins at Argos? They have a brilliant range, and big deals on currently:

6-seat-metal-patio-set

The contemporary, minimalist design of this Pacific 6 seater patio furniture set will perfectly complement outdoor patio and decking areas. Ideal for dining in the sun, the wide parasol provides protection from the heat whilst the textilene chairs help to keep you cool. Features folding chairs and removable legs for easy storage.

Or maybe you’re after something more traditional? The Newbury 6 Seater Patio set is ideal for relaxing or entertaining in the sunshine. The oval table is made from FSC hardwood and folds for easy storage. For other outdoor seating inspiration, check out Watson’s website, they have loads.

But WAIT! Because there’s more savings to be had. You can collect 2 Nectar points per £1 on ‘Home Delivery’ items at Argos! If you’re an internet shopping aficionado, points are awarded (on online Home delivery purchases only), when the Argos site is accessed via nectar.com.

And everyone knows (or should know!) that Nectar points really quickly add up. I admit it – though I’ve had a Nectar card for years, I thought it was about collecting points when I spend in-store at my favourite high street retailers – and then of course using those neatly-collected Nectar points in places like Argos. But you can also save extra bonus points when you shop online through the Nectar eShops too!

So go. Shoo. Nab yourself some nice garden furniture this holiday weekend – but make sure you get your points as you do so!

A 70's child, I’ve been married for a Very Long Time, and appear to have made four children, and collected one large and useless dog along the way. I work, I have four children, I have a dog… ergo, I do not do dusting or ironing. I began LittleStuff back in (gulp) 2004. I like huge mugs of tea. And Coffee. And Cake. And a steaming cone of crispy fresh fluffy chips, smothered in salt and vinegar. #healthyeater When I grow up I am going to be quietly graceful, organised and wear lipstick every day. In the meantime I *may* have a slight butterfly-brain issue.

  1. We have the pacific 6 seater set, it’s great. I can’t wait for the summer so we can get out and use it again.
