Day FOUR in #BackToSchoolBooks – and this one’s got a gorgeous hint of childhood retro about it.
iSPY books – remember them? They were an ever-present staple on long car journeys, weren’t they? I never did finish the British Birds – it took me until I was 36 to see my first Kingfisher!

But don’t underestimate these little books and their simple power. A few years ago I produced a couple on a long drive through France, just for five minutes fun, as clearly teen and pre-teen kids were too old for them. Ha. That drive to be the first to spot a Dacia on the autoroute became ridiculously competitive, and the sheer triumph of being the one to find an Audi R8… In our kids’ digital society I find that these low-tech and simple little books still hold a fascination – and build a healthy competitive streak too!

And the new ones have a new format which means it’s not just about the physical spot-it-and-tick. They’re packed with cool facts, and there’s even a points system for easy to hard finds (totally helps those back seat competitions to be more fair when you can track a decent score).

I work, I have four children, I have a dog… ergo, I do not do dusting or ironing. I began LittleStuff back in (gulp) 2004. I like huge mugs of tea. And Coffee. And Cake. And a steaming cone of crispy fresh fluffy chips, smothered in salt and vinegar. #healthyeater When I grow up I am going to be quietly graceful, organised and wear lipstick every day. In the meantime I *may* have a slight butterfly-brain issue.

These are great! I often find myself harking back to them when on holiday. They are so useful for identifying birds, trees and plants when on a ramble.
